Thoughts about Dax and the current trend 19.5.2012

Dax is flirting with the lower bottom of declining trend. Apparently, Fibonacci 50% and 200 days moving average should have their impact on forthcoming week. It could be reasonable to assume the trading range between 6200 - 6400.

Eur-usd rebounded from lower low which was should be very important support. Therefore, we can expect more rebound before testing the low again.

Some of the indicators still point down even the latest behavior of Volume index hasn't been exactly in unison compared to price index (Dax).

McClellan has been quite reliable and clear indicator to reveal longer trends.

Also Overbought and Oversold condition doesn't look like it would turn right now.

Risk behavior suggests that we could soon be nearing the bottom, and so far this indicator is at reasonable level compared to prices and we only need one single day to turn this indicator up.

We also need the high correlation level to lower first before any big trend change could happen.

Overview: The evidence shows that the intermediate term trend is still down, but there are some minor observations in the investor behavior that suggest some hesitation and at least short term rebound. The question remains if the rebound will also act as an intermediate term market bottom. The big question is whether the institutions and block traders shall join this sell-off, and thus driving the prices even lower, since now these major participants have stayed on the sidelines.

Dax sentiment week 47

Dax got 3 new 52 week lows when Commerzbank, Daimler and Lufthansa fell to the their lowest levels.

Dax cycle is clearly pointing to lower levels and we probably have to wait 1-3 months to see the market bottom.

As we have seen, the inertia between oversold and overbought usually has been working well. This time is no exception. So, lower levels for the index expected.

Dax McClellan summation index began to fall around zero level, which is quite bad news for the index.

Dax volume index is also pointing to lower levels.

Dax 5.8.2011 high volume with some support

Lower stock prices seemed to interest investors as the volume surged almost to the highest level during this bull market.
Previously I wrote that the volume index hasn't confirmed the lower prices yet, but eventually this happened.
Interestingly, McClellan Indicator fell to even lower level than during the bear market 2008-2009...
Since TRIN turned positive, we could believe that some buyers are awakening, and thus, bears are becoming weaker.
Volume-based cumulative accumulation/distribution based on stock volumes also peaked into positive territory, so this suggests rebound.

Dax oversold/overbought indicator calculates supply (green) and demand (red). The sellers have pushed the red line almost too high, so within a week we should see a rebound.
Quite quickly, there are 9 stocks that made 52-week lows last friday. As you may notice, previously this happened 28.1.2008, 23.7.2008 and during Lehmann collapse. Even during the capitulation and the lowest index level in March 2009 we didn't get as many 52-week lows.
